Bentley 4½ Litre

This painting was requested as a surprise gift for the owner, on his retirement from long service in the motor industry. Although various photos were provided, none were at the correct angle, and since it was a surprise, no way of getting new ones. I managed to find a suitable photo online, and I am grateful to Andrew Bone to allow me to use this as a starting point. I understand that the finished painting was well received.

I don’t know much about the vehicle, but supplied information suggests that this car dates from 1936, when 6 new 4½-litre cars were completed by Nobby Clarke, former competitions manager, now running the spares department, using reconditioned chassis, and new spare parts. 5 of them had Vanden Plas Tourer bodies, including this one, with the other one having a saloon body. Nowadays they would be probably be regarded as continuation cars.
