The Ford Escort Mk II came out in 1975 and the RS2000, with its unique slanted nose incorporating 4 headlamps, was announced later the same year. It featured the Pinto engine from the Cortina, developing 110 bhp, with a top speed of 110 mph and 0 - 62.5 mph acceleration of 8.9 seconds.
The car depicted was registered in April 1980 and has been extensively restored by the current owner.
Requested by a work colleague as a surprise present for a significant birthday; some 10 years after an earlier commission of a Jeep!
I vaguely knew the owner vaguely many years beforehand, when we both owned Cortina 1600Es.
