The Chevrolet Corvette was introduced in 1953 as an American answer to the influx of European 2-seater sports cars. The car was made from the then-new glass-fibre reinforced plastic. The first generation from 1953-1962 are now referred to as C1.
My favourite incarnation of the C1s are those dating from 1959-60, with double headlamps with chrome bezels, contrasting side-coves, chrome ‘tooth’ grille and white-wall tyres (or should I say tires).
The painting is based on a car that appeared on the Corvette stand at the 2017 NEC Classic Car Show. The actual car doesn’t have the over-riders round the number plate as shown above, and I added these as a temporary overlay to create an additional image.
